I had a decent job, I really did. It was enough for me to pay the rent, the bills, the groceries, and have gas in my car. I was doing okay. Too bad the economy is going the way it is right now, because I lost my job. They just couldn’t afford to have me on board anymore. It sucks, but hey, that’s life. Sometimes things just happen. I really didn’t know what I was going to do, and I started to worry.

I called home to my Mom, and she didn’t have any extra money to spare. She did offer me a place to stay, but that is the LAST place I want to end up again - in Mom’s basement. I’m sure you guys can understand that. I needed an answer. I was talking to one of my buddies and he told me about a time when he needed money and he got a car title loan. I was recently summoned for jury duty.  When I let my job know that I would be out of work for a little bit, they were terrible to me.  They said that since I had only been with the company three months they wouldn’t pay me for the time I needed to be off.  They also made it clear in so many words that they were not happy I would be taking time off.  I’m thinking, since when has jury duty been considered time off?  I couldn’t believe it but there wasn’t much I could do about it. 

I ended up being selected for a jury.  There was just no way out of it.  I answered every question they asked me truthfully.  The trial lasted two weeks.  I never anticipated being out of work for that long.  I never get picked for anything and when I do it costs me two weeks of pay.  This would take a financial toll on me.  I need to figure out a way to replenish the money I lost while at jury duty.   I won’t be able to pay my rent if I don’t have it.
