I love two things in life.  One is a great car (mine is my Mini Cooper), the other is great appliances.

But I’m not Steve Jobs’ love child.  I work in tech, but with all the ups and downs and moves and a crappy ex-husband and several crappy ex-boyfriends, my house in Fruitdale had BAD appliances and I had BAD credit. Every time I opened the loose door on that 1975 harvest gold refrigerator, I thought about Malibu Ken (the ex-husband).  

At the very least I wanted a new refrigerator, one that saved on electricity. I could save money and get some “green peace of mind” with a newer one. But the model I had my eyes on is about $1800 (never question a girl with good but expensive taste).  But again, I was short on cash (oh, and did I mention the guy I’m dating … in Alaska?).  

But I was online one day and read that developers near Cupertino were selling off never-used appliances from unsold condos for half the retail price.  Brand new, never used, $725 on a model that would retail for $1500.  Warranty included.  But you had to act fast: buy the following day or they would go to auction.  I needed fast cash.

Who expected my nice career in radiology would be outsourced to India one day? I started bicycling a lot more this year because of the gas price crisis.  But oddly, it’s our car that has a lot to do with health in our family.

My husband left the country, instead of manning up and asking for a divorce. How pathetic is that? Good riddance! I hope he destroys his new wife’s life in Portugal.
